Representatives from the IMAGINE Project are currently attending the Annual Meeting of the International Society for Pharmacoepidemiology (ISPE) in Berlin, where they are sharing key findings from their research on reducing the inappropriate use of antimicrobials. This high-profile event gathers experts from around the world to discuss advancements in pharmacoepidemiology and healthcare research.

During the meeting, Ana García, scientific manager of the IMAGINE Project at IDIAP Jordi Gol, presented the results of a significant study on the management of urinary tract infections (UTIs) in nursing homes across eight European countries. The study is part of the broader efforts of the IMAGINE Project, which focuses on optimizing the use of antimicrobials and improving infection control practices in long-term care facilities.

The presentation highlighted the challenges of managing UTIs in nursing homes and explored strategies for reducing unnecessary antimicrobial prescriptions, a critical aspect in combating antimicrobial resistance (AMR). García’s presentation provided insights into the project’s approach, which includes training for healthcare professionals and the development of tailored interventions to improve infection management.
