The Slovak research team enhances visibility and fosters collaboration through active participation in Pilsen and Helsinki
In June and July 2025, the EU-funded IMAGINE Project was presented at two prestigious European events in the field of clinical pharmacology, highlighting its methodology, tools, and preliminary findings. Representing the Slovak research team, Dr Helena Glasová, MD, PhD, and Prof Jozef Glasa, MD, PhD, participated in both conferences as project coordinators and esteemed experts in their field.
Presentation at the 24th Czech Conference of Clinical Pharmacology, Pilsen
From 19 to 21 June 2025, Dr Glasová and Prof Glasa took part in the 24th Czech Conference of Clinical Pharmacology in Pilsen (Czech Republic), a prominent annual event organized by the Czech Society of Clinical Pharmacology, part of the Czech Medical Association.
Both Slovak researchers delivered lectures in a special plenary session focused on the rational use of antibiotics. Dr Glasová introduced the original IMAGINE methodology, including the audit tools and procedures developed and tested during the project’s first phase. Prof Glasa complemented this with insights on the project’s implementation and outcomes in Slovakia, one of the eight target countries of the IMAGINE initiative.
Their presentations were well received and sparked active discussion during and after the session. Several Czech experts expressed strong interest in adopting IMAGINE tools in clinical practice and teaching, as well as exploring future research collaborations. The project materials were praised for their practical utility and high-quality visual design.
Their participation also reflected the Slovak Society of Clinical Pharmacology’s broader role, as both speakers are Board members, further reinforcing the visibility and impact of their contributions. Abstracts of both presentations will be published in a special issue of Clinical Pharmacology and Pharmacy, the joint journal of the Czech and Slovak pharmacology societies. Additionally, the journal’s editors expressed interest in publishing a full-length research paper based on the IMAGINE Project.
Presentation at the EACPT 2025 Congress, Helsinki
From 28 June to 1 July 2025, Dr Glasová and Prof Glasa presented the IMAGINE Project at the EACPT 2025 Congress, held in Helsinki (Finland) under the theme “Embracing Innovations for Optimized Patient Care”. The congress, organized by the European Association of Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics (EACPT), is the leading European event in the field, gathering professionals and academics from across the continent.
Representing the Slovak IMAGINE team, both researchers showcased their work via poster presentations, focusing on the project’s original methodology and selected results from its first phase—both in an international context and from the specific perspective of Slovak implementation.
The posters were met with positive feedback and lively professional dialogue. The presence of Dr Glasová and Prof Glasa at the congress was further strengthened by their roles within the Slovak Society of Clinical Pharmacology (Prof Glasa serves as its President) and their involvement with the EACPT Board (Dr Glasová served as Scientific Secretary from 2021 to 2023).
Their abstracts were included in a special Supplement of the European Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, the official journal of EACPT, published on the occasion of the congress.
These two high-level scientific engagements have significantly enhanced the international visibility of the IMAGINE Project and its potential to inform better, more responsible antibiotic use across European healthcare systems. Interest from other countries in the project’s tools and methodology paves the way for future collaborations and knowledge transfer across borders.
