In Europe, approximately 35,000 individuals die annually to antimicrobial resistance, primarily arising from the inappropriate use of antibiotics. In this regard, the nursing homes setting is particularly complex, because older individuals in these environments often contract several infections. This poses a public health predicament requiring immediate actions to safeguard the well-being of the population.

In this context, IMAGINE emerges as an ambitious project aiming to enhance infection prevention and reduce inappropriate antibiotic use in nursing homes. This is achieved through a multifaceted intervention targeting healthcare professionals (HCPs) in nursing homes across 8 european target countries: Greece, Hungary, Lithuania, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, and Denmark.

In alignment with the European Antibiotic Awareness Day observed this Saturday and the commencement of the World Antibiotic Awareness Week (18-24/11), organised by the World Health Organization (WHO), IMAGINE is committed to aligning with both awareness campaigns. The objective is to highlight a health predicament that could significantly impact forthcoming generations.
