During the meeting last November in Lithuania, Jette Nygaard, senior researcher at the Department of Clinical Microbiology at Herlev and Gentofte Hospital, shared her assessment of the process that Imagine Project has carried out in nursing homes. Nygaard explained that for Imagine Project, it was essential that the initiative be fully collaborative with the healthcare staff, as it is the best way to implement the tools.
That is why Imagine Project has conducted questionnaires, qualitative interviews, and audits, and based on the comments and reflections of the nursing home staff, it has developed tools with them that it hopes will be useful in their daily work.
The goal of Imagine Project is to improve infection prevention control and antibiotic stewardship, and it is confident that the tools created will help improve hygienic conditions in the centers and help reverse and prevent infections, especially in the urinary tract.
Additionally, Jette Nygaard wanted to share the example of a Danish nurse who suggested the possibility of creating a quiz with questions to facilitate learning about different hygiene measures and myths. This QR code can currently be found on the Hand Hygiene poster.
For Nygaard, the biggest challenge they have encountered is knowing that they had a large amount of information. Imagine Project has more than 400 ambassadors, and it was impossible to lose any individual comments, but despite regional differences, the researchers have been able to see that there are issues that are repeated in all countries, which has helped them focus precisely on those common points and develop tools that help healthcare staff.
